Well it had a lot of influence from the fact that I read "EVE the Empyrean Age" before I even learned of EVE the game's existence. In it the Minmatar are pretty much portrayed as the (sometimes stupid) victims of fate. They weren't exactly the good guys, but were far from what I considered evil. Also, I always go for the underdog for some reason and my choice was made.
That and at the time my views of the races were as follows:
Gallente- "MURICA, F**K YEAH!," They seemed the obvious good guys, and while I generally am a good guy they just seemed too perfect at the time and I knew a lot of the people who fit the above phrase would join. I wanted no part of that.
Caldari-Tibus Heth, I genuinely hated him at the time and didn't want anything to do with the Caldari because of him alone. I saw him as a racist aggressor who would commit any act, as long as the victims were Gallente (the Gallente female swimming when he walks into his new headquarters as a simple example).
Amarr- Slavery, I am in reality too much of a nice guy to support the concept of slavery, even to digital avatars. They seemed to be THE bad guys, even if they had good intentions. And the most important Amarrians in the book were Karsoth, a power corrupted madman, and Jamyl a woman who killed Millions of the people I supported upon her introduction to the public.
My opinions have long since changed, but you asked why I chose what race I did, not what I currently think of them. |

True Adamance wrote: I wont argue but in new eden we do not have the same world politics and you have to ask yourself why the Athenians, historically one of the first great democracies, historically gave up a democratic state for a more dictatorial one during times of hardship.
Also as with the more popular choice I would say that that is simply people playing to social coventions, its boring. I mean more and more within the universe of New Eden I am coming to believe the Amarr are doing the right thing.
And I'm here to kill you for trying, doesn't that make you feel better? |

True Adamance wrote: No its not. Before you make your assertions play a match with me and let me explain.
1. Amarr do not take slaves for social repression purposes nor as a means of profit, it is their belief that though hardship people become closer to God and in doing so they become ready to enter into the Empire, and are emancipated.
2. They had being doing so yes, their development into a theocracy was definitely a legitimization of the proactive, though that doesn't change the intentions of the practice.
3. How can people unite as one people and one group if there are many cultures, simply answer it cannot happen since one culture will always try to hold its self up as special, self important. We are one species, not a division of 4 races.
Soooo.....How many times are you willing to repeat this argument before you give up on the community and let them rot in their ignorance?
I'm genuinely curious. |

Void Echo wrote:I read the race bios carefully when i 1st downloaded the game & watched the videos.
this is all MY own views on each of the races based on my own experience in dealing with them and watching their affairs:
1st is my race- The Gallente Federation: The only truly free society within New Eden, basically all cultures are free to perform and act as their own as long as they do not go against the federation. everyone has a chance at being on the top of the political and military ladder, this includes people with good ideals, views and methods AND those with selfish, evil and tyrannical intentions, but that is what comes with having a free society where nothing is set in stone. The Federation stand for freedom and choice yet within its boarders openly opposing the federation is a bad decision as it is within all boarders of humanity. in my personal experience with the federation, i am standing proud and strong as a defender and bringer of freedom and choice.
2nd is my rival race- The Caldari State: They fight for profit and honor, basically anyone who offers them the highest price. they take great pride in fighting for the state especially, they are stubborn to take down as they defend their "ideals" with fierceness and numbers, which is probably why we haven't wiped them out yet. they seem to have very strict guidelines on how to conduct social activities not to mention they have no control over how they are to live their lives, the corporations in control have all the power and in their society it seems that the person with the largest wallet gets the largest share. I give respect to the caldari ONLY for the reason that they defend their state with as much determination as i defend my federation.
3rd is the tribal race- The Minmitar Republic: Everyone can agree with me that they are the most primitive of the 4 races, their equipment large and small are covered in rust which is most likely a symbol used by them to show that they are the hardest working of all the races. they may have inferior technology but that doesn't mean they are the weakest willed of the races, by far they have the strongest home running will iv ever seen, their iron resolve and will is most likely the result of their enslavement by the amarrians centuries ago and they do wish to reclaim their honor they had before the amarrians arrived at their worlds.
4th is the religious fanatics- The Amarr Empire: I have no good words for this race but i will try to seem as neutral as possible. They do everything in the name of their religion, their god, whether it be extremely highly praised or highly tyrannical, they always give the same statement when asked why they do it, "it is what our god wishes and it shall be done". they seem to be closed minded and extremely paranoid at the thought of personal freedom and individuality as expressed by one True Adamance, be that as it may, their devotion to their religion is very interesting, its in the same way that i fight for the federation, and people fight for the state and why the minmitar fight for their honor back. the fact is that they only accept those that share their specific ideals and beliefs and want to destroy or enslave anything and everything that has different views than they do, which is why they come off as the tyrannical empire of the galaxy, which is also the most realistic of all the empires as it shows the true fearful and brutal nature of humanity is its worst.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS ALL MY PERSONAL VIEWS BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH ALL THE RACES. Let the speeches and political correctness begin! |

True Adamance wrote: That's not true, it has been a statute that yes the Ni Kunni were religious though they did not share the same kind of religion the True Amarr did, what the have been known to do however is be drawn to the Sani Sabik ways which are a direct violation of our religious mandate, substituting water in their ceremonies for blood.
Close minded?.... because one religion has inducted another into its society? That's is not close minded, more so open minded, If we were dead set on being the only empire around total destruction would be our game, but it is not, it is instead bringing all the peoples of new eden together.
Well technically it could be seen that you didn't accept them, you accepted a version of them that you created/morphed. Yes you did accept them, but culturally it wasn't the same empire or people. |

I just going to give up I have spent all to my time trying to explain the aspects of one culture to you people. Yet all I get are the same weak arguments. PROPAGANDA THIS and WERE THE HEROES that. Most of you people have little to no understand of lore, I apologise to guys who do, I am always inclined to respect and argue with you on friendly terms, but I cant keep doing this in the face of overwhelming ignorance and the same already run through arguments.))
A Gallentean saying the Amarr are under the effects of propaganda is like a raven calling a rook black.
((Just be glad we aren't all completely ignorant. Its not your fault that nobody seems to care about the eccentricities of all the races.))
The Amarr don't all have slaves The Minmatar aren't all stupid tribal savages. The Gallente aren't all perfect angels. The Caldari aren't all about solely the profit. |
